Writer's Block

Thought it fitting to begin my blog with the words of my younger self. Just a teenager ruminating on her bedroom floor with a bout of writer's block:

Journal Entry, Mollie McGurk, April 1999

"I actually bought this journal, hmmm... in either 7th, or most likely 8th grade. It is now my freshman year of high school. I've never been the type to have the time or the day-to-day will to keep a diary. I love to preserve the past, but I just don't care to write about things as they happen. In fact, I don't like to write at all. According to my teachers, I have a talent at writing. Yes, I do like to read a fine piece once I've written it, and it gives me great satisfaction. However, finding the desire to write in the first place has become increasingly difficult.

These days, the main desire I have is to sit and just think. To think about anything and everything. Whether the topic be shallow or philosophical, I just want to stop everything and think about it. Silly? No... STUPID! How will I ever get anything done in this crazy life of mine when I'd rather sit and imagine what I'll do rather than do it? Crazy, simply crazy. Oh, how I wish I could get back to reality! There is so much to do, so little time... and what am I doing? Nothing!

Right now, in fact, I had planned to be cleaning my room. A full scale clean-up, and my, does this place need it! Well, after watching mindless TV all morning I finally took my shower. Then I was roaming about the house before I finally sat on my floor and started categorizing my clutter. Ha! In no more than five minutes I found this journal, and I promptly began doing something that I have had no desire to do since the time I bought this thing. Aw, I just bought it for the wolf picture on front. It looked good on my desk when it was clean and orderly.

Well, now that I'm drifting on and off different topics, I think I'll stop. Maybe I'll decide to pick this thing up again - maybe I'll discuss my thoughts. Who knows???"
